The one that’s part blue, didn’t notice it at first but I think it’s mixed use.
CS
will forever be ingrained asCounter-Strike
in my brain.I am looking forward to the new Cities Skylines, though! Might need to upgrade the hardware in the meantime
I was VERY confused about Counter-Strike 2 having any kind of urban planning at all… and then I saw the screenshot better and worked it out. 😅
That’s why most of the time people use C:S, as in Cities: Skylines, the actual title.
Same when people talk about computer science and call it CS.
So technically, you could be in a CS class, playing CS and your friend next to you is also playing CS.
The English language is dumb.
Finally contemporary urbanism.
Contemporary? That’s how it’s always been. Zoning is new, and Euclidian Zoning is extremely recent and only really prominent in NA. In the past people would be able to have literally any use in any bulding.
True I was mostly commenting about how citybuilders are often stuck with strictly differentiated zoning of the of the Modern and Industrial periods, not the entire history of urbanism.
ah, Cities Skylines 2, not Counter-Strike 2. You might want to change your title, I thought Counter-Strike 2 followed Fortnite and allowed building all of a sudden :D
Yeah I immediately thought “oh wow counter strike is getting way more colorful than what I expected”
A few weeks/months ago, everyone was talking about HL and I thought, why’s Half-Life so popular all of a sudden? It was Hogwarts Legacy.
Fortunately FortNite BR has a no-build mode since some months. Since I can’t be bothered to train myself to build the Burj Khalifa in 2 seconds, I prefer it that way.
that’s awesome!
unrelated but i think it’s really funny that both cities skylines 2 and counter strike 2 are being talked about around the same time, thus both get CS2
For a shockingly long moment I thought this was about Counter Strike 2.
Still, awesome, mixed use zoning, maybe we can have tram lines with grass and tunneled train lines.
I’ve wanted that for so long, I hope they do more for making nice cities with people walking and cycling, trains and trams everywhere
I am going to build my tram paradise.
Im very excited for the sequel. Graphics look much better and it has a lot of features people have been asking/hoping for.
The only thing I’m disappointed about is that zoning is still entirely grid based, so there is no way to fill curves and corners nicely.
I’ve spent many happy hours playing the original… My only gripe is that it always turned into a traffic management sim. Yes there were other challenges, but traffic was always front and centre. (At least for my cities)
Traffic management is always the main puzzle that everything boils down to in a city builder.
You’re right of course :) I guess I spend so much time IRL with traffic, seeing the virtual equivalent doesn’t spark joy any more. It’s a shame, I used to love city builders.
I’d love a car-free option. Mass transit, bicycles and foot travel only would be a great challenge.
Maybe something like this could be something fun to watch for you then :)
Oh that is interesting, thank you! Shall check it out!
Once I figured out how it works, traffic management became fun. And money-growing-management-stuff and the waiting is what ruined the game for me. So now I’m playing with infinite money and the only challenges are traffic and making stuff look good. Getting people to where they want to be with lane management, public transport networks, and bikes and pedestrian paths.
What is the challenges you prefer in city builder games?
The modding helps a lot with that. It gave a lot more tools so you didn’t need to create insane spaghetti roads
I thought CS2 was counter strike 2 and was very confused for 10 seconds
This was the feature I wanted more than anything else.
I didn’t know they were working on a Cities Skylines sequel. Sweet!
Yeah they released a sort of teaser trailer, don’t remember much, but I don’t think it had much game play.
What? Counter Strike now has zoning?
Ok I’m convinced. Cities skylines 2 will be an improvement.
I’m sold
Also looks like it’s adding extra levels of density, as there are several different shades of green visible.
I’m so excited for this game, just need to see how the traffic management stuff is on this game and see if it’s anything like TMPE
Seems they taken inspiration from a few of the mods everyone uses. If they haven’t taken anything from TMPE, the modding community will surely re-create the mod for CS2.
Considering they’ve hired the dev of TM:PE (iirc also the dev of Network Multitool, whose utilities you can see in the trailer), I have super high hopes
My biggest want for the sequel is less of a need for mods. Stuff like tmpe make the first one amazing but it also makes the experience feel a little shittier and harder to get back into after time away from the game. I always have to do a mod purge on the workshop and then figure out which are the versions that people use now. Making what could’ve been an impulsive play into something I’ve now spent hours sorting out and now that the game has finally loaded i no longer have time to play.
Same here. I played for about a year after it launched and had a lot of fun. I took a look last year after seeing some amazing screenshots and videos. The modding needed to produce the kinds of cities I was looking at was intense. Well beyond what I’m capable of doing for a few hours after work. And its not just finding the right mods but relearning the game and what all those mods do.
That said, I’m very much interested and hopefully the developers will deliver a solid sequel.
