  • It has been a lot since I needed to download Wikipedia, it is very easy, AFAIK there is Wikimedia with backups of all wiki sites.

The weird file sizes are just a compressed file format, sql and XML. Maybe it is a bit more complex run Wikipedia locally, but the content information is easy to retrieve.

The only issue is that sql and xml are plain text files, and plain text compresses very well, so a 30GB backup can become easily 100GB uncompressed.

  • Does this count? https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2014/jun/08/the-dolphin-who-loved-me

Instead, he encouraged Lovatt to press on with teaching Peter English. But there was something getting in the way of the lessons. “Dolphins get sexual urges,” says the vet Andy Williamson, who looked after the animals’ health at Dolphin House. “I’m sure Peter had plenty of thoughts along those lines.”

“Peter liked to be with me,” explains Lovatt. “He would rub himself on my knee, or my foot, or my hand. And at first I would put him downstairs with the girls,” she says. But transporting Peter downstairs proved so disruptive to the lessons that, faced with his frequent arousals, it just seemed easier for Lovatt to relieve his urges herself manually.

  • I don’t know in naturalization cases, but in Spain members of the parliament who are from independentist parties (which basically want to go against the constitution and obviously don’t give a shit about the King) preceed their oath with the phrase “by legal imperative”.

Every time it happens some parties claim that it’s not valid but AFAIK there has been no ruling in favor/against it.

Members of the government make their pledge at the palace in front of the king and I have no memory of anybody using that phrase, I quickly looked for pledges made by republican politicians and they pledge loyalty to the king as well.

  • I still complain about bugs, but instead of blaming devs or qa I blame managerial positions and stakeholders.

    Huge bug in game exists:

Non dev gamers: “How didn’t they catch this blatant issue?”

Dev gamers: “How many times the issue was addressed just to be told to work on something else with greater priority like <random stupid thing>?”

  • I had a Vita and I loved it, it was incredible compared to the PSP and 3DS.

But the internal memory was a joke making the memory stick practically mandatory if you wanted to buy a game in the store, which being proprietary wouldn’t be an issue if it wasn’t expensive as hell.

The catalog of games was really small (at least in Europe, maybe in Japan wasn’t the case). I loved the few games I had but every time I tried to go to the store to see if anything interesting had come out I was disappointed.

The development platform for indies was a framework for mobile phone that was focused for Sony smartphones, so indie games couldn’t take full advantage of the console.

It felt like Sony abandoned the console too quickly and let it agonise.
