I just finished Neon White. Loved the puzzle platform levels. I haven’t enjoyed something like that in a while.
I just finished watching a New Frame Plus youtube video of their pick of 2025 Best Animated Games. In that video, I found a game called Blasphemous. Souls like pixel sidescroller. It’s grim and challenging. Right up my alley. Found the game for sale in GoG so no regrets.
Man I’m as basic as it comes. I have a .txt file that I update with today’s date and write what I’m working on. I try to write as much as needed on what I’m working on. I write commands down and save links to reading material.
It’s not the best but it’s better than nothing.

Hey @MDCCCLV@lemmy.ca, I just wanted to let you know that I bought a 4k UHD movie the other day and my blu-ray player that I updated the firmware on could not play the disc as well.
I found answers online pointing to updating my volume unique keys (VUK). These keys are necessary to decrypt the discs. To make a long story short, there is a database online that you can use to update your keys to read your 4k UHD disc. I used this script in particular because I was able to echo the output the HTTP website. I didn’t want to click on a link that is not using HTTPS.
I’m using linux so this was the solution that worked for me. I think there are other ways to update these keys. If you do go this route of using this bash script, please keep in mind that it’s going to be a few hours. The transfer speed was in the kilobytes. Towards the end of my patience, I just hit ctrl-c to skip the keys for other nations that I don’t see myself using.
Once all was done, I was able to get VLC to run my 4k film on my PC :)
I’ve stored them in a TV cabinet for years. Nothing special. I’ve created a Jellyfin server so if I was burning my DVD and blu-ray already, I may as well back up to files. And to point out austinfloyd’s comment, disc rot was the other reason to back up the DVDs.
Also don’t go with an Asustor 1102TL. I can’t access the BIOS so I can’t flash open media vault. I had a whole plan to have an automated Borg backup script running on the NAS but alas, I guess not. If someone can prove me wrong, please let me know.
I recently got into the rabbit hole of digitizing my DVDs after discovering that disc rot is very real. I bought an LG blu-ray external driver, followed steps to flash firmware, bought a MakeMKV license to support the software, and bought a NAS to run a RAID 1 configuration to hold the backups of the DVDs.
I do think with Netflix buying out Warner Bros, optical media will take a hit. But companies like the Criterion Collection keeps optical media alive. Also CDs are alive and well when it comes to music.
Running Jellyfin off of a Dell Optiplex 3060 and encoding all of my media in AV1. I’m able to stream my movies just fine via the Apple TV.

I regret throwing the box away. I think it’s a 2019 Macbook Pro with an Intel i7 CPU. The device has been wiped but macOS Utilities is still on it. Last when I was working on it, I think I needed to reinstall a OS in order for the hardware to have a link to the Apple for firmware updates?
Today is a good day to set this device up. It’s been on my todo list.
Did you follow a certain guide by chance? I have a macbook but I’m slowly finding out that Apple silicone is trickier to setup Linux with.
Yes I have been connecting my ProController to my Linux machine via USB-C. I’m using the Bazzite image from Universal Blue. Here’s my output from the fastfetch --format json command:

I have been using a Nintendo ProController since 2017 for all my gaming needs. It’s a solid controller and can be use any USB-C cable to connect to your PC. Solid battery life if you ever need to go wireless. I am monster though and just deal with the buttons being mapped to Xbox layouts so ‘X’ and ‘Y’ are always mapped backwards. I now know that Steam has a feature for mapping buttons now.
With all of that said, I also am looking for a new controller. My palms have been hurting as of late when I use the ProController.I will always recommend this controller but my hands are hurting more during longer play sessions. It never used to feel like this so I think I need to start stretching these old hands prior to playing.
If anyone has any input on comparing 8bitDuo’s Pro 2 or Gulikit’s KingKong 2 Pro Controller to Nintendo’s ProController, I’d like to read your thoughts :)
I second CoolerControl. It is able to control fan speed depending on the temperature of your CPU!
A little late to this comment but there are some assembly videogames out! They are puzzles and gives you the gist of how assembly works.
I really enjoyed TIS-100. I just never got around to beating it.
