Counter question: Why do some fans gatekeep their passion and insult those who they deem aren’t “real fans” when it only creates a negative connotation with the fandom and convinces people with slight interest in the subject to avoid becoming a “real fan”?

Paywalls nudge people towards choosing one or two sources for all of their information. The more sources they pay for, the less value each one provides.
