I swear, execs are some of the most gullible people on earth. I know some of them, and none of them are very bright, just very greedy.
I fuck numbers.

It’s like saying Immich is bad because you don’t need to own storage or hardware for Google Photos. I know that. But it’s not a valid point of discussion when talking about open source self hosted software.
Also, you don’t need to open any ports. Just use tailscale. If you’re a bit more technically savvy, set up a reverse proxy. It’s honestly not that hard. Tailscale is just an app that you install. Why is everyone acting like it’s complicated? Am I missing something?

This is a new one for me. Looks pretty sleek.

Yeah, easily the best one I’ve used on TV; that’s for sure. I found it randomly on some forum a few months ago.

Everyday I realize that I don’t hate capitalism enough.

I think that should be enough. Maybe try two vCPUs if you wanna host other stuff too. But for just some mirrors/aggregators, one vCPU is probably enough. I don’t think you really need to worry about RAM or storage either.
Computers are plenty fast these days. I think you’ll only start to see actual performance issues when handling hundreds of simultaneous users.
In any case, you shouldn’t be spending over $10/month. You can get much lower. Take a look at this. I don’t know how reliable or secure they are, but they’re very cheap. I’ve used their VPS in the past, and it seemed pretty okay.
Edit: You can also do what I do for heavier stuff like Jellyfin or Immich, and simply use the VPS as a relay. The actual stuff runs on my home server, connects to the VPS via Wireguard, which then masks its IP.

Not always. You can pay by crypto at many places e.g. https://kyun.sh/
Also, many of the providers don’t really validate anything so you can get away with providing random information, and paying with a prepaid debit card.

The Dark Knight Rises. I was in middle school, and my someone had told my parents that it was extremely violent. Anyway, my cousin had a pirated copy, so I watched it at his place. We could literally hear people chomping on popcorn, and see moving heads lol.

I think it’s kinda better using quadlets, because I wrote some custom scripts, and quadlets made the process better. But podman compose is probably file too.

Rootless. The docker containers were rootful, hence the permission struggles.

Yes of course. Had to spend a couple of hours fixing permission related issues.

Just did that last weekend. Nothing to do anymore. 😢

Damn, I guess I’ll stick to the older release for now. Hopefully a viable alternative/fork comes around.

The error is ~1/log(x), for anyone interested.
That reminds me, there’s this anti-capitalist, anti-war children’s film by Satyajit Ray called Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne. In it, there’s a song that says that the king is sad and afraid since he has so much money. He tries to cope by punishing others, but it never makes him happy. The only solution offered was to let go of all his riches, and that finally made him happy.
It was for children, so I understand why sadness was used instead of fear. But they do need to be afraid.
As an aside, I think that movie had a decent impact in the communist revolution that happened in my state in the 70-80s. Ray has made some of the greatest movies in the history of cinema, but his children’s films still hold a dear place in the hearts of many generations of Bengalis.

It’s DoW now, baby. And apparently, it’s over 50,000!
Nothing. It just looks like my username.
