No, Windows as in “this setting is hidden under this menu, that submenu, here click to open another sub-window…”. This will happen any time a dev tries to arrange settings in logical way (instead of flat list of toggle and input boxes), because “logically belong together” and “actually often used together or one after another” are not the same, and also dev logic, internal system logic and user logic are also three different things. Result - mad maze
Which is why many tinkerers like CLI - at least one can run
man somethingorsomething --helpin most cases
Which is why in my Windows days I got a habit of turning computer off with Windows + R --> shutdown -s -f -t 0
Windows just works, my ass :)
they can be automatically moved to have parent 1 or something like that, so only way to kill them is a reboot. But personally I am yet to setup a stationary (uh, not a laptop) computer and see how it works for me without poweroff at the end of the day
Windows:
- program refuses to shutdown
- system: okay, guess you don’t need your computer to turn off anyway

31·10 days agoLol. Once again: I am not getting an explanation, see hallucinated functions and packages (that never happened, right?)
I know what I am doing, which is exactly why I get paid for my code.
And we know a lot more about how we think than you imagine, lol. Like, humans do not think in words. But you did not know that, did you?

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Op doesn't have time for interviews
11·24 days agoWell…
case 1: I know beforehand that this is going to be an interview to look at how good I am at reasoning. No problem, give me the question about bus to fill with balls
case 2: this is going to be a more informal interview, question goes in the same list as “your name, what were you doing at your previous job, did you work with X… by the way, what about switches and bulbs” - nope. That means interviewer did a lousy job at preparing for interview, so who is wasting whose time - up to me to decide on the spot
