unfortunately dwg files are a blind spot on linux. there are projects like qcad and librecad that have experimental dwg support (behind a paywall for qcad) but they require you to learn a whole new set of tools because workflow is entirely different for these.
i don’t have experience with the web version, it might be enough for files with fewer elements but your best would be to use a vm for immediate future.
alternatively, you can draft your work in 3d and export your drawings from these files. for architectural work there is a great addon for blender called bonsaibim, for mechanical work there is freecad (it also has a workbench called bim workbench for architecture) and for circuit design there is kicad.
for 2d your best bet would be qcad (free) and draftsight (paid). some distros have qcad in their repositories.
a little more sophisticated would be freecad with its bim workbench and blender with the bonsaibim addon. both of them let you draw in 3d and print floor plans off of those model.
for a quick mockup you can try sweethome3d.
if your phone is supported by e/os/ you can try that. it’s almost completely degoogled, i’m using it and it works. if you really want to de-android your phone, your best bet would be postmarketos. i use that, too, but not full-time. it mostly works, depending on your device.
this channel has great tutorials. they’re up-to-date, too.
i’m using their e-mail, too and it’s working fine. they also have a custom domain perk which you can forward your custom domain there.
4·2 years agoI have a thick as a brick vinyl from 1972 and it’s still in a great condition :) i know it’s not suitable for 8-channel recordings or anything, but maybe we should’ve invested in that type of research.

i have it set up on a headless server running alpine linux and it has libtorrent2 in its repos. i did exactly as i explained and got it workin, so i was assuming lots of things, apparently.
the site 404s.
here’s my ¢2:
- install i2p or i2pd
- install qbittorent
- enable i2p on qbittorrent (settings -> connections)
- find the torrent you’re looking for on postman tracker (on the installed i2p browser)
- that’s it!
3·2 years agoAre you planning to compile the programs on the thin client? Although rust runs efficiently on a lot of hardware, compiling is gut-wrenching.
I have an rPi 1B running as a lightweight server and both rust and c++ applications take hours to compile (some of them take over a DAY). so, interpreted languages might be what you’re looking for. my favorite is python. most distros have a lot of native packages in their repos. albeit a little weird to work on, perl is great, too.
you can start out with wayfire, as it has basic a panel included.

i think gnome and kde both have graphical interfaces for this. i like doing config files.
she was just happy for me.
i’m not trying to convert her, it’s just that i’m comfortable in doing this, it feels natural to me.

river is cool but it’s heavily modular. i love it.
first off, you should choose a window manager. there’s a list on their page. for example, rill is a scrolling wm like niri. there are also stacking and tiling wms on that list.
then you should also install some tools. their wiki also includes a brief list.
this would give you a fully working wm.
