Nay. Too many distractions or boring tropes of open world games.
I am on a mission to go from a to b. I pick up all items or resources I can along the way. I encounter enemy x often and enemy y not so often. It’s ok for certain types of games but can become tedious after repetition.

4·1 year agoKingdom come deliverance 2 is not even a bad game but how can it be number 7? It’s been out for two months… it’s hardly influenced anything. The first one would make more sense but only because of the dedication the team put into making it. Bizarre entry, and while I don’t agree with shenmue being more influential than doom, super Mario bros or even sonic for that matter, I guess I never played it that much when it came out.
Even Celeste dev did it

2·1 year agoCompany of heroes, the original version. Still a very good game and unlike the two sequels, is not so dlc heavy and is more about tactics than just spamming tanks and landmines, though I still sometimes do that.

87·1 year agoIt may be overblown but I am seriously tired of the way Mozilla is being run. The CEO has a $7 million salary. Big red flags always appear each time they increase the salary also. May be a bit hyperbolic but that’s why I’m just using another fork after 20 years

24·1 year agoI’m not a fan of mastodon because it really does feel a lot like other social media sites, I don’t really like any form of advertising, whether it’s intentional or unintentional. People post too much bullshit trying to gain followers. I never cared much for twitter/facebook/instagram anyway.
Lemmy however is a better replacement for Reddit, so far. I remember when Reddit was the replacement and now look at it, a big steaming pile of ads and bots, power tripping admin and moderators, killed 3rd party apps that made the site useable. Hopefully lemmy can remain the same as it is now.

1·1 year agoI was basing what I said on the http.py file:
while True: try: # Download and write data_block = ctx.data.read(block_size if not is_test else min(block_size, data_len - byte_counter)) except TransportError as err: retry(err) byte_counter += len(data_block)I might still be wrong but that’s how I thought it downloaded any video file over http
Edit. After reading the code a bit more I see that you were correct.

4·1 year agoyt-dlp streams those chunks into the final file tbh so it should be fine.I was wrong about this part. I doubt the isp would do anything about it though, just for different reasons

8·1 year agoI believe the request to the server is the same as if you were watching it. It just runs the file from their server to your browser, with yt-dlp it sends a request to the server file the same way a browser does. You can view the source code which is well commented if you are able to understand python. The function is in yt-dlp/downloader/http.pyAfter rereading the code, it’s not quite the same but I wouldn’t worry about the isp

Technology@beehaw.org•Gaming on Linux, How openSUSE Stacks Up for GamersEnglish
3·1 year agoI used to use opensuse and it was always a solid distro. I switched to manjaro after because I wanted to try an arch based system, that was not arch btw, it was also solid. I have settled on fedora though for many years now and I doubt I’ll ever switch again. At least for me, it does give better performance in games like csgo/2, not as good as windows but I also didn’t have any issues with the last of us, after a few patches anyway. Red dead redemption 2 runs better than on windows with fedora (for me).
I use fedora btw.

31·1 year agoTry fedora. More stability than any other os I’ve ever tried. Have had it running on all my machines for maybe 6 years now and not one issue, including with gaming (csgo/cs2 for 5k+ hours).
I’m speculating but I bet they didn’t expect so many people to care about it. With the current state of cs2 and it being so tied to them milking the skin market for money, I’ll bet someone high up said pull the plug just in case.
