It’s not the AI itself I hate, it’s the laziness and the shoddy quality it churns out. Ten years ago, mistakes like these wouldn’t have stood a chance in a human artist’s work, so why are they suddenly acceptable just because it’s AI? Does nobody bother with quality control anymore?
If your budget is tight and you want to scrimp, fine, that’s understandable but you should at least make an effort to hide how cheap you’re being.
Usually:
Manager: We (meaning you) need to do task A. How long will it take?
Me: Task A will take X days to do.
Manager: That seems awful long, are you sure you are using our choice of AI tool correctly? NVM I vibe code that myself

Manager: Here is my vibe coded single PR with features A, B, F, and some refactoring. I have no idea what it does, could you check that it works? I have no specs, documentation or tickets for any of this and I don’t have time to fix failing CI gates
I hate this. I don’t want to remember which provider I use for each site and I don’t want accidentally give too many permissions while logging in. Just give me email and password inputs, don’t block password managers and don’t force any magick link nonsense and I’m happy. I don’t even need passkey support

I use yadm which is basically git repo with automated path handling and alternate files support. I heard that gnu stow is also a good choice, but I haven’t tried that

The only surprising thing here is that it took this long. It’s not cheap to run servers, and their current business model doesn’t seem that profitable. A regular user doesn’t care if their AI girlfriend suddenly starts recommending antidepressants and Nuka-Cola products.
Well, at least some part of the users are frustrated with ads. What bothers me more is that the majority certainly couldn’t care less whether there are ads on their device or not. If they did, Amazon would be forced to do something about it.

This is not enshittification, this is just a corporation trying to protect itself against anything that could cause negative publicity, like all corporations do. I can even see emojis and positive tone to even be wanted features for some. The real problem here is lack of transparency.
I’m still waiting for ChatGPT etc. to start injecting (more or less hidden) ads to chat and product placement to generated images. That is just unavoidable when bean counters realize that servers and training actually costs money.
There’s probably a PR or a thread somewhere with a bunch of very angry nerds fighting over whether this is even a useful feature and there’s no API because they can’t reach a compromise. There is no design.
