I’m messing with making a kernel softmac driver that can handle Nintendo specific 802.11 frames so that MelonDS can connect to a real DS or to another device using the native Nintendo wirelesss protocol.

Lot’s of interesting reading and packet capture fun with Wireshark has given me an idea of where to start, but the tricky part is that the DS needs less than 20us of round trip latency for it to work, which is insanely low. Otherwise the connection is considered interrupted and gets dropped.

afaik, the only part that “verifies” the latency are ACK frames which the DS expects a return for every frame transmitted, so it should in theory be possible to just make a small driver that generates ACK frames at kernel priority, and forwards the rest of the frame to MelonDS for actual game handling.

I’m hoping it turns out that easy but the MelonDS forums have a long ass thread about how much of a PITA the DS wireless multiplayer timing synchronization requirements are.

Just clean the surface with a wet cloth to ensure there’s no residual dust/debris and you can shave away. It probably won’t yield even size grains, but you can use it for whatever you like.

That all being said, the ones from Pakistan are not usually coated in anything after raw production, so if its from an unknown source, you might want to check if the seller maybe added some spray on agent to protect the salt, although I really don’t see any reason why they would do that.

EDIT: For everyone saying “not food grade”, the only difference is that it wasn’t quality tested for ingestion. That doesn’t mean the salt isn’t edible, it’s just not tested for that purpose. The mined salt rocks are the same for everything, only difference is size to be sold to each factory. I checked and apparently some sellers do coat the lamps with a protective gel for shipping purposes, so you would want to wash that off first.

This is verifiably not true because of the amount of devs that use arch and the fact that the arch wiki exists and there’s an entire set of AUR packages for custom bugfix patches on top of bleeding-edge software.

Debian is too dated with packages if you want to mess with practically anything new, otherwise its okay for something not concerned with new libs. Ubuntu repos are a joke and you will never find all the libs you need without some wacky tacky 3rd party downloads.

Despite Hollywood’s horrendous reputation around recycled IPs, their adaptations of foreign media have actually turned out quite good for several films, although arguably nothing compares to the original.

The Departed was a remake of Infernal Affairs and there are still mile long threads to this day arguing about which one you should watch.

tbf though I wouldn’t keep my hopes too high because there is a ocean full of poor adaptations and sequels, regardless of the quality of the original media or even when reusing the exact same film team.

As for superheroes, I’ve always made the argument that most people actually don’t care all that much about the current genre outside of fictional entertainment because to them it’s purely fictional entertainment. Especially for 3rd world countries, they would find it dumb for some superhero to battle a supervillain in their hometown when there’s a shitty government/military/cartel/mob right down the street that’s done 999999x worse than whatever a fictional villain can threaten to do.

One of the reasons the Batman trilogy was so well received internationally is because unlike the rest of the superhero genre, it revolved around Gotham’s decrepit justice system being reignited and actually leading to a systemic improvement in society, which is everyone’s pipe dream.

I actually find it kind of funny that MSFT does have an official linux release for Edge but not for Office.

It would seem like they want it to be a Windows only feature as a way to keep people on Windows, but they have a Mac release of it eith the full feature set lol.

If you dual boot, install on a separate dedicated drive of possible.

Saves a lot of headache with windows boot part, especially since you’re installing after already having Linux installed.

Usually after a big update, stupid windows overwrites EFI boot partition to windows bootloader instead of grub, which makes you crack out a USB to reinstall grub so you can access your linux system again.

Doesn’t happen that often but still a pain.

I have wiped a toner cartridge with a paper towel and chucked thst sucker back into a ye olde HP from 20 years ago with a broken guider clip and it still prints perfectly fine.

I wiped it because it was leaving a smudge at the edge of the paper after never cleaning the rollers for aforementioned 20 years.

I guess I can add briefcase printer for mission impossible as a use case for inkjet lol
