I’m happy to see more Linux gamers don’t get me wrong. Steam is specifically gathering specs on people who game, the other stat counter (that reports 4% Linux use) is based on what people’s browsers are reporting.
Glitchy things and video games. What even is anything anymore?

Steam is only installed on one of my computers, I have at least four running Linux. Not to mention plenty of Linux users don’t game at all, so probably not.
“These ‘CAT’ cables, they aren’t made out of real cat right?”
Oh, no the system is absolutely broken. I’m just trying to give you a rational explanation to the concerns you raised. I’ve worked hard my entire life and been screwed over every step of the way. I’m unemployed, living with family, and can’t afford to see a doctor. I apply for jobs but never hear back. I learned Python and Linux just because I felt like it, so I’m not unskilled. Ruined my spine unloading trucks in my early 20’s, so I can’t really do anything manual labor. But like, shit I feel worthless, and I don’t think a functional system would put anyone through that. I can’t even get assistance because I’m “too young and healthy” so like, fuck me for existing I guess.
Idk, I’ve never made enough money to live on and at this point never expect to. I’d rather do something I’m passionate about while I die under capitalism, than sit here feeling useless while I die under capitalism. Shit is depressing and unsustainable.
Uh, grades.
You take Doctor 101 and get a C-, well the number of students who graded A-B filled the Doctor 102 class. Study up, and either retake the class or take a test to prove you know the information. You scored high enough on your test? Rad, welcome to the class. This is actually what we do anyway so, you’re overthinking things there.
Number of jobs is a weird limitation for gatekeeping professionals. If we only need X amount of doctors, then we’re an entirely healthy world with zero illness and no room for new minds to create entirely new methods and further our understanding of medicine? I want anyone driven enough to practice medicine to do so, it’s the only way we’ll have enough doctors to fix the massive healthcare deficit we’re experiencing. Especially through the above grading methods I suggested.
As for the pay decreases, hard to say really without doing it. If an employer believes your education is less valuable because more people can achieve the same, they’re a shitty place to work and they’ll get what they pay for. There’s also the possibility of those doctors being more affordable actually expanding the availability of healthcare overall.
I get why it’s worth questioning, but it’s broken now so why can’t we try to fix it? What if the fix works? Awesome right? What if the fix doesn’t work? Good thing the current broken system could act as a fallback, right?
Survival? I’m just waiting to die. I can’t afford to live and the world just keeps getting worse. Oh, and the clusterfuck of conditions I’d be passing on? Not something worth cursing another human with.
It’s something I can’t avoid, however I can limit it a bit. Elden Ring shipping with EAC is unfortunate, but I trust From Software a lot more after they took down DS3 to fix an RCE exploit. Sure EAC could turn on them, but I feel like a good publisher would be lawyering up the second that happened, especially if it resulted in their game damaging their customer’s hardware.
Edit: not suggesting anyone should install rootkit DRM games, just sharing how I justify living with the ones I already have.
Right? I just switched to Linux full time. I was excited for this game, now it may as well not exist for me.
I guess the point I’m getting at here is that, you’re preaching to the choir, but I’m still over here hoping we can solve this problem for EVERYONE. Because sure, men have issues, but women not only exist, but are humans in need of the same types of help, and in a lot of cases are facing even more adversity what with global fascism on the rise.
Edit: Also was trying to say something about being bullied for wearing safety gear at dangerous jobs (my experience), and how “gotta be a strong man, can’t cry.” was like, the worst feeling I ever had, and when I let go of it and cried and had feelings I felt a lot of relief. However, I’m still very much shamed for my “lack of masculinity” amongst most of the more conservative and more manly folks I know. Makes me feel like I’m part of some out-group that doesn’t exist and has no support because women and men don’t want anything to do with me.
It’s missing context, so yes, it’s a problem. With the entire context, there IS a wage gap. But you just cut that part out for the little anecdote that suits your needs. Nice. A+ I bet your teachers loved you.
Okay, next time a woman you know complains their male coworker makes more, go ahead and tell her to work more, I bet she’ll just love that. Especially if you word it juuuust like that. “Sell more time.”
If uplifting groups of oppressed people to an equal standard is alienating to you, then you are falling into the tolerance paradox, and you should probably stop that.
I’m not shitting on anyone for pointing out that men have problems. I’m pointing out that there are means to fixing these problems that don’t involve picking up fascist politics.
Hard to Strawman, a Slippery Slope. I was merely pointing out it’s a Slippery Slope without whipping out my Fallacies.
Everyone should have food, my point is, the majority shouldn’t get extra food just because the minority are getting enough food now.
Ah yes, being a reasonable, empathetic member of society. “BoOtStRaPs!!1!”
I’m a depressed male, I have attended therapy, I have talked with those close to me, I have been in dark times, and I’m hella lonely. Being a fascist isn’t going to fix that, if history tells us anything, that’ll make it worse.
Still missing the point. Giving everyone more doesn’t fix inequality.
Giving those with less the means to exist doesn’t make what you have lesser.
The point you’ve made here seems to be, corporations are bad, everyone is exploited now, and if anyone wants to make money you have to give up your life to do so.
Also, the part of the paper you’ve cherry picked suits your narrative but doesn’t paint the entire picture.
It should be dollar for dollar, don’t act like I have implied anything more. I’m done with this, as you missed my original point: Giving everyone more doesn’t fix inequality.
Good old internet arguments. Glad we landed on an agreeable point. 👍
The problem with days old threads is I never remember the context. Looks like they were asking if Steams data would be more reliable. Tbh, I think Steam is great for gaming stats, not for general use stats. Statcounter supposedly uses what the browser reports when participating websites are visited.
