yeah I always looked at it as more of an out of the box thing being the idea. I mean really for all distros to some degree. To some degree people, I recognize there are other things but I can feel the heat of the torches from the pitchfork wielders already even before I post this.

I am very typical earthling. I like earth food and earth drink and earth sports and earth media. Im all about earth things because I am so typical and earthling. so typical as to be very boring and not worth investigating or looking into because I am definately from earth.

A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•High inflation made finances worse for 65% of Americans last year
2·2 years agoyeah I guess the question is are you typical. I have been losing since 20222. It was sorta end of 2021 but its the start of 2024 now so about 2 years. Mostly I have been steady since 2013. No real significant growth but no loss. There is an outlier with 2020 as I was let go with decent severance for covid but then actually found a new job in my field pretty quick and then we had the covid stimulus. So that was one of my best years ever overall. Oh also before I was let go I ironically had a lot of overtime (yes I had an enviable hourly full time tech job so got overtime but also a severance going out). That is really an outlier though. I started my current career track after moving into tech in 2000 so had a lot of growth between 2000 and 2012 as I established myself in the field. Now a good amount of effects are personal and unique to me. I would trade post 20000 though with two more 90’s economy decades but I would trade them all for the horrible 70’s if it meant our use of plastic was minimal and we still had decent regulation and taxes.
I go the opposite way. Why have a ton of people making the same tweaks when someone can just roll a distro with the tweaks at the get go. puppy linux was like an extreme version of this.
now I have to look up rancher. sounded like qubeos to me.

1·2 years agogood point. I made a commnet about it effecting everyone but there likely is the segment whos income actually has been outpacing inflation for the last 3 years.

A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•High inflation made finances worse for 65% of Americans last year
8·2 years agoim pretty sure it made it worse for 100% just not catastrophically worse for the 35% not included. EDITED - keeping my original comment for posterity but someone else had a better comment and really there are some who made more than inflation. Not a whole lot but some.

A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•Consumers are so demoralized by inflation and high rates they've given up on saving for the American Dream and are spending money instead, economist says
2·2 years agoway I always heard it is to fight inflation they increase interest which is supposed to encourage people to save the money rather than spend it thus lowering inflationary pressures in addition to interest capturing dollars that become unavailable for purchasing.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Fourth Amendment Is Not For Sale Act, preventing data broker sales to government agencies, moves forward
1·2 years agoso much agree. Why do we even allow data brokers? How about something like an entitiy cannot collect information that is not necessary to conduct the business it is in and cannot sell or provide that information to any other entity outside of the one they collected the information from which must be provided free upon request.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Linux mint or zorin OS for layman beginners who just want everything to work and focuses on stability , privacy , security ? Also what to do if I switched to mint and WiFi stopped working ?
2·2 years agoI don’t know of an easier or more beginner friendly distro than zorin.

I view the gaming distros as being about out of box. I don’t see anything improving performance outside of how the kernel compiles but I doubt any do anything special.
