If you start at zero, the exact same data is shown as when there is a clearly labeled breakpoint. It contributes nothing other than obscuring the data points and scope of discussion is only for the past month. You’re not making a cogent point.
Just like I said before, a 5% decline is not an insignificant drop or “very slightly declined.” Expanding the scope of the argument to show that it’s actually a far steeper decline in user engagement and then arguing the opposite point is misinterpreting the data. Expanding the scope just shows that the trends are continuously showing declining user engagement with no organic growth other than Reddit fucking up.
Showing the data over an entirely different timescale than what’s currently under discussion means nothing in this context to illustrate your point.
Starting from 0 on the y axis just means you need to change the scale, which like I said makes reading any data points incomprehensible, or end up with an unnecessary amount of whitespace.
All starting at 0 would do is ensure that you have no way to accurately gauge the data points values. It would also just compress the data to an incomprehensible smudge of a line.
The starting point is just so you can adequately see trends for both plots shown and is quite sane. I also don’t know if I could call an ~5% decline and clear trend minimal either.

Yup, me too. I used to be able to get lunch for a week with $20 back in high school in the mid-late 2000’s. Almost everywhere had a dollar menu where you could get a pretty decent meal for a few bucks. Over time the portions got smaller and more expensive though to the point where you can’t really do that anymore.
The $5 footlong hasn’t existed for years (honestly maybe a decade) at this point. It’s like a $10 footlong now.
I’m on Jerboa and I’ve never once seen this issue. The post you linked properly loads the image and all comments. The only time I’ve come close to seeing the message you link is if it’s pointing to a banned/deleted user or comm.

I had been working my way through a first playthrough of Dark Souls 1. I finally managed to snag it in a Steam sale so I can now officially do a full series playthrough. I’m no stranger to the soulslike genre and found a lucky +5 Black Knight Sword very early on so it’s been a fairly easy run so far, aside from the early souls jankiness which took some getting used to again. I got stuck on Manus and decided to take a break so I’m hoping to get back in and finish tying up loose ends before heading to finish off Gwyn.
I’ve always wished that Souls games had a sliding New Game plus system where I could start a playthrough at like NG+2 or something because NG is generally too easy, but I’m not usually one to do NG+ in general. Once I beat a game once I’m done with it for years usually
Life hasn’t been great recently so I’ve mostly been playing more mindless games where I can have fun and drink beer. Mostly Helldivers 2 and Chivalry 2, maybe Dead Cells or Risk of Rain 2 if I’m in a rougelite kind of mood.
I’ve recently started wondering how many people are here because they’re too toxic for regular social media rather than because they want to be here.
This has largely been my operating assumption as well since day one when I came over during the Reddit API lockdown. I was fairly active on a NSFW alt up until recently and I’ve actually seen dozens of comments from new users mentioning that the only reason they were here on Lemmy was because they were banned from Reddit and had no other viable options. They were always an asshole to the posters and the reality is that with a lower population of users is that there aren’t enough other voices to drown out these people yet and you end up with a feedback loop of toxicity.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who found the world resets frustrating. I agree that the world is interesting and atmospheric, but as someone who enjoys thoroughly exploring, the resets just kept ruining my immersion into the world. Maybe one day I’ll go back to the game.

The larger telescopes around the world are almost always taking images of the sky looking for changes for one reason or another.
I’ve been super conflicted on starting a P3 FES playthrough with the remake on the horizon. I entered into the series with Persona 4 and loved it but never got the chance to try the earlier entries. I know I can mod to change it but the aspect of not being able to control your other characters was always a huge turnoff for me. Maybe I’ll finally just jump into Yakuza: Like a Dragon instead since it’s been burning a hole through my backlog
Everyone’s playing it these days for a reason. The game is the definition of replayability and when a new(successful) colony can give you an engaging experience for dozens of hours it’s always a staple in my library when I don’t know what else to play. The game is variable and engaging from start to finish with just vanilla alone and adding the vibrant modding community just makes it that much better.
It doesn’t cause panic, but I don’t back up my photos on my Google drive because I don’t want to and I don’t need to. So every time it forces me to accidentally turn it on, the sooner I stop it the fewer pictures I need to individually delete from my drive. It’s a massive hassle that shouldn’t happen.
