From sleepy brain to another, it’s a joke that Unix purists will go out of their way to remove a “sex” command just because it’s not following the unix philosphy.
There was 0 actual complaint, however, I will indeed remove the joke command as it won’t be the funny number version anymore

Setting aside all the ethical nightmares for a sec, AI is a pretty good tool to review your work. You can give your art to ai, ask to “improve it”, and it will give you something which you can then pick and choose parts to add to your art (by yourself. Not by AI).
It’s like a mentor helping you improve by pointing out stuff you missed. It’s free constructive criticism (which a lot of beginners don’t have/don’t hear), so as long as you take what it suggests (and remove things you don’t like), you’ll improve and slowly don’t need it.
The goal is to let it give ideas. Not a guide, nor do it for you. Now if only there were ethical AIs for this… But may as well ask for the wealthy top 50 to disappear mysteriously instead
I already knew Linux. What it made me learn is systemd. And I’ll say it without shame, I like systemd. I know it doesn’t follow the Unix philosophy but it’s just semantics.
Oh I don’t mean derivatives doesn’t count. As their own. I mean when saying “debian” you don’t say “Ubuntu”. Just say both
Those are based on Debian. Not Debian. If you ask for a debian and I give you pop_os, you’d probably not like it.
And flavours are flavours, not distro. It’s the same distro, just different settings
Same for nix. It’s great and awesome, but you need to know that for 6months it will be pain.
Yeah it was my pipeline. But be wary, this is a hard path to take. The os is great. The package manager is great. The nix config language? Hahaha welcome to hell! It takes at least 6 months to get comfortable with it. And still, sometimes you can still come across a config file that will be totally alien to you. And when you need something not in the repos… time to learn how to package stuff!
It’s not to discourage you, but be warned. It takes time. I had 5 attempts at it before it became my daily driver.
Keep a working distro on the side. And when you start your computer, think about what you want to do. If you think you can do everything you want today in NixOs, boot it. If you have a lot missing/do not feel like configuring it, boot the other distro. Just start small. Do some little challenges like turning your config into a flake, create a nix os module, split your configuration in smaller more maintainable files, create a systemd service, wrangle with that damn home manager that keeps making everything so confusing.
And arch is actually the one from scratch. NixOs is intimately linked to systemd. Nix also requires some base dependencies like git and curl, so it’s not from scratch. However you could argue that NixOs is a “make a distro from the kitchen utensils and a recipe”.

I do remove older versions, but I set the auto GC to do it at 5% storage remaining, so it doesn’t matter that the update is lighter, I actually increased the storage usage.
I also use bees to dedupe the nix store so I cannot say the raw size
