I run a local account and toggled off all the telemetry stuff during installation nine years ago. Never saw one of those. Didn’t even get toggled on with updates. Only problem I had was Copilot getting added a few weeks ago. By that time, Win10 had become the compatibility fallback for Linux, though.
So, create a local account, go into Settings, and toggle off everything that could maybe be telemetry related.

NT was a fully seperate product from 95 and 98, using a different kernel. 95 -> 98 -> Me was the old kernel, NT -> 2000 -> XP -> Vista -> 7 -> 8 -> 10 -> 11 is the other line. Me was a play on Millenium Edition, so that line was just numbered by year. The NT series names are a bit wonky, though. The reason for skipping 9 involves legacy program support and bad coding practices from ye olde programmers. 7 was kind of an arbitrary number to begin with, though.

The ‘printer of fire’ error used to be a legitimate and important concern. Ye olde printers really could light their paper on fire under certain circumstances and they would typically be huge devices in dedicated rooms rather than something right next to your system. Letting people know to check on it when specific things went wrong probably saved a few buildings from burning down with people in them.
Yes, but it’s significantly less automatic. Testing distros on an old laptop, Debian wouldn’t support the network card out of the box and I had to use USB tethering from my phone to get the necessary drivers off the internet. Ubuntu just had them in the image and installed them automatically.
The pro upped the storage to 2TB, but I really feel like when the PS5 launched we were at the point where they should have shipped with 4TB drives.
Didn’t deliver what it promised and season one was pretty rough. Season two was better. Season three was shockingly good, as in easily the best season of both shows. Then they gave the showrunner the boot so they could put Gimple on it and he ran it into the ground for season four, which was fucking awful. Don’t know what happened after that because I don’t think I finished the season.
The fun thing is that half the time Johnny complains, you gain approval with him anyway. He may bitch about you stopping to save random folks and talk about how it won’t actually change anything, but he still approves deep down. He also approves if you call him on his bullshit, which is a nice change from most RPGs requiring you to be absurdly supportive of your party’s awful decisions to top off that approval meter.

Do you have tips for someone used to newer Civ games? I know I played Civ2 as a kid, which should be similar, but I only remember back to 3 and only clearly back to 4. I tried AC and had difficulty just figuring out basic controls.
Civ6 also has issues with the Linux version due to Aspyr slacking. A bunch of the newer content hasn’t been ported yet. Fortunately, you can force Steam to install the Windows version and run it with Proton.
