but to get there NixOS needs proper documentation
Not only TiVO, IIRC Tecno (the phone company) is in violation of the GPL-2.0 too by not providing device trees.
init: add readme
i know more about planes than cars but i kind of get it
you let arch behind and use distros like debian.
does using nixos count ;-;
this comment is real
Isn’t the point of deGoogling removing the majority of the proprietary apps on an Android Phone, though?
seems like it, it’s only during school so I’m not too afraid of it
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yeah, no, it’s a group chat of my entire class. Making all of them switch is not an option, it’s too many people who don’t care so much about digital privacy and aren’t interested in tech
iOS is worse than Android in terms of privacy in most ways. Android is open-source, which means we know there is no tracking, at least in custom ROMs like LineageOS. However, iOS is closed-source so there is no possible way of knowing what Apple tracks, because it is fully possible that their marketing material (“whatever happens on iPhone stays on iPhone”) is disinformation. Closed-source software cannot be trusted for privacy, see the Anom Phone, this “closed source can not be trusted to be private” statement is also 99% of the reason deGoogling is a thing. GApps themselves are proprietary and are given near-root access to the system.
honestly, i don’t have much of a problem with the at-school tracking. i don’t really skip school (or plan to), but I do want them to get more into privacy stuff.
that’s what I was planning to do with graphene.
thanks! dji fly was my primary concern with grapheneos so that’s out of the way now
setting up my own server isnt an issue, I already have a makeshift server with a laptop.
Sounds nice, will look into.
yeah, that’s what im planning on doing.
Self-hosting seems like my best choice for now, primarily because my parents don’t really want to use new messengers like telegram, because they already have to use Viber, Meta’s Messenger, WhatsApp, and who knows how much more, add to that that I already have a makeshift home-server out of an old laptop. Also, it’s not “all times”, it’s just when I’m at school.
Instagram I guess I’ll just have DFInstagram isolated on a separate user account on GrapheneOS.
As for the drone, I’ll try DroneLink but I have heard that it may be possible to get DJI Fly working, albeit you have to give it a lot of permissions, thus requiring that you isolate it on a separate user account.
exactly. cant blame them tho, its unofficial.
Pandabase isnt OSS but its pretty great from what ive seen.
