  • i will try to put what highalectical said in simpler terms, and starting pointing out that this discussion is very very important to new people.

so, how communism itself will look in the future will be determined by the material conditions of the future, since we are not there yet, we can’t say for sure, only speculate. but you can say you dream of a society that has x characteristic.

the same goes for socialism itself, how its gonna look for each country, will be determined by said country, for good or bad. that is why soviet socialism is different from chinese, that is different from yugoslavia, that is different from korea and so on.

but if we take all of those and try to dawn similarities, we can note a certain tendency, and that tendency is a uplift on quality of life, like the other comrade said in another comment, drastic reduction or extinction of illiteracy, full employment for long periods of time, agrarian reform, reduction or extinction of homelessness and so on.

and why that discussion is important, there are some revisionists line that throw materialism out of the window and create an abstract form of socialism, and they use that abstraction to shit on former socialists and current ones, for example abolition of family and moneyless economy, no socialist country ever came close to both of these, so these lines spew that there was never a “true socialist country”, all were horrific oriental despotism dictatorship and etc.

  • imo dishonored and deathloop managed to achieve a good balance, they could do semi openworld with rogue like elements of doing operations with scripted and random events along the way, so you could progress the story in a non linear fashion. the tricky part as always is balancing, something to stop you from hoarding stuff in multiple supply runs and circumvent the survival horror part of managing tight resources.

  • well, if the first think you ask about a game is how well is their politics, basically you get restricted only to disco elysiumn. but since you asked, is weak, at most you have the scoia tiel, but the show and the game portray then as just bandits, some court drama here and there and one quest near the end where you can kill the mad king.

the baron quest imo is one of the most interesting parts of the game imo, it shows gerald character as an honorable and compassionate man, the monster in question is a botchling, it spawns from stillborns that were not properly buried, so they are not a fault for being that way, even tho they kill people, so instead of just hacking it with your sword, you can perform a ritual to properly lay the soul to rest.

  • china doesn’t simply just have scientists, they a science centric country (pardon me for lack of a better term), meaning they put science as a central pillar to development of the country, not only researchs get basically unlimited funding, they made a series of institutions to foment materialist and scientific though at an early age, students visits labs and members of chinese academy of sciences are treated like celebrities, and many other things to make the youth pursue a science carrer.

meanwhile brazil for example is almost medieval.
