Regardless, the cost of multiplayer on consoles has been a factor since multiplayer started and will continue to be because it’s a guaranteed way for those companies to subsidize the massive overhead that is their server farms.

That’s exactly what I’m trying to say. These services cost actual money and MS historically has had a significantly more reliable online service and a huge reason why is the Live charge. Sony only managed to have a reliable service when they started charging for it. I feel like a lot of people with the sentiment above didn’t play games when online CONSOLE multiplayer was born.

Windows sys admin here, I haven’t seen a vbs script in ages. I’m primarily in PowerShell these days.

I believe I see options in my admin portal that would allow making your instance private. If that doesn’t do what you want I wonder if you could populate the whitelist with a phony address which would affectively defederate you from everything.

Edit: I did have to update the yml to use latest. I’m not sure if it’s something with Ansible but when I followed the update steps to update using Ansible it seems to hardcode the version in, not sure where it’s pulling that from.
