It just downloads the audio file for the video, so if there is that crap, you get it. I haven’t had many issues with extra stuff though. I send it a link like https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbNzvRx9lF_Tw6oi-I8iYbhBWNf775kwR and I get a good-enough-for-me bunch of mp3s.

Just a little FYI for anyone wanting to download a playlist to listen to offline. Use yt-dlp. Load up the playlist, copy the URL, and then just run

yt-dlp --extract-audio --audio-format mp3 --audio-quality 0 https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list<the playlist>

I don’t know if I’m alone on this, but I just bought the biggest 5400rpm HDD that was in my price range when I set up. Might notice the slower speed when doing a big data dump, but for streaming purposes you can run many 4k streams concurrently and the bottleneck would probably be your network speed before you hit a drive read bottleneck.

Just search for “kneeling pad” or “gardening knee pad” and you’ll find a bunch of pretty durable options for around $10. Or, hell, just get a pair of skateboarding knee pads. You might not be the pinnacle of fashion, but your knees will be well protected.

After dealing with fallout from stupid trump policies (that’s being generous), Biden managed to turn things around and the economy was once again doing pretty good. Now that dipshit trump will give his idiot voters and the rest of us another shitty economy that the next Dem will have to try to fix. The wheels on the bus go round and round.

I like command line stuff, so I use newsboat for the reader, and then yt-boat to download. yt-boat uses yt-dlp as it’s backend, but I’ve never had a problem with yt-dlp not downloading or asking for credentials though.

Do you have things on the external that precludes you formatting it? You aren’t doing it too often, so a tarball might work, but you’ll be wasting a lot of time doing it that way. Then again, if it’s once a month, that doesn’t seem like a huge deal. I just use rsync now and then for my external backup and it doesn’t take long at all.
