That’s still only 3 simultaneously if I saw that right. My old Lenovo laptop had 3 USB-A 2.0 ports, 2 x USB-A 3.0, RJ45 and HDMI. That was gold. Everything that comes now is a bloody chore.

It really is for me. Those things stick out way too far and might work alright in stationary mode, but while on the go they break easily (speaking from experience) and slip out all the time.

It really is a big deal for me, they stick out too far and are making the whole setup flimsy.

I agree with USB-C, but there are still a million USB-A devices I need to use, and I can’t be bothered to buy adapters for all of them. And a USB hub is annoying.

Plus, having 1-2 USB-C ports only is never gonna be enough. If they are serious about it, why not have 5?

Up until now when I researched the guy, I had no idea who he was and what ideals he represents. So I could see how unsuspecting people sign up for that stuff without any ill intent.

Most average users consider Microsoft a trusted source, that’s the root cause of a whole lot of crap.

The ones with EOL 2015, fair play. But May 2024 isn’t all that long ago.

Edit: Looks like those were launched in early 2015. I guess requesting users to update devices after 8+ years might not be too far fetched.

Can highly recommend ASUS, most of their models can be flashed with custom firmware that is supported beyond EOL. And their EOL cycle is also pretty long.

As to why the family bonds are so strong, it’s part cultural (your elders are always right and must not be criticised, and you must take care of your blood above anything else), part societal - parents work too much (60-100h weekly), so children are generally raised by their grandparents, which strengthens the bond across generations. And because the pension system is totally insufficient, grandparents will at some point typically move in with their kids, so people are used to live in a multi generational household.

In several countries it’s simply not possible, and the family bonds are strong as elsewhere, if not stronger. China for example, family is above everything there, and you can’t change names under any circumstances.

Use the browser version in Edge. That and outlook are the only two things I’m using that browser for, and it works great. The standalone software is an utter disaster.

That was the first instance out there, so amany early adopter communities are hosted there. I’ve blocked a handful problematic users and all the communist stuff and other topics I don’t agree with or care about, but by and large it’s alright.

Hexbear.net and lemmygrad.ml are instances I’ve blocked altogether.
